David Muldrow Beasley (born February 26 1957) is an American politician who is also the executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme. Beasley is a member of the Republican Party, served one term as the 113th Governor of South Carolina from 1995 until 1999, when he lost to Democrat Jim Hodges in the 1998 election.

South Carolina had a strong economy during the time Beasley served as the governor and unemployment was an all-time low of 3.5 percent in 1998. Beasley often spoke of his faith in Christ and his conservative stance in a state renowned for its strong connections to Christianity and the conservative political system.

Food and Agriculture Organization José Graziano da Silva appointed Beasley to the post in March 2017, saying the former governor brought “extensive experience with key governmental and business leaders and stakeholders around the world, with very strong resource mobilisation skills.” Guterres also said Beasley had been among 23 applications/nominations for the position.
